The
first thing to realize is that you are there to relax and feel treated. It is so important for us to be good
to ourselves first so we can be our best for others.
When you arrive, the massage therapist will have a confidential questionare
for you to complete to help get acquainted with your specific needs. He or she will take a few moments to review
the information with you.
Next, the massage therapist will leave you in the treatment room to prepare for the massage.
You will do this by removing clothing and climbing on the table and covering yourself with a sheet. It is a personal
preference as to whether you remove your undergarments. Typically, they are taken off to avoid any restriction in during
the massage. The massage therapists will keep areas he/she is not working on covered with the sheet.
Most people
find it the most relaxing to close their eyes and remain silent during the massage. However, during the massage if you
would like lighter or firmer pressure, temperature adjustment, etc. it is very appropriate to ask for it. In fact,
if there are any questions or concerns during the massage, the recipient should feel free to speak during the massage as your
comfort is of the utmost importance.
What to do when a biological function of some sort occurs during a massage?
Relax, it is human and the massage therapist are professionals and will act accordingly. It is natural during
times of relation to fall asleep, snore, pass gas, have an erection, etc. All are normal, however it should be
stated that although an erection could occur during a non-sexual professional massage, it is not appropriate for the client
or the massage therapist to act in any type a sexual manner.
Is gratuity required? Gratuity is soley determined
by the recipient's desire to tip, and that should be based upon the satisfaction of the massage. Although professional
massage therapists often accept and are grateful for tips they are not expected.
